First Response Media

No‑bullshit crisis, conflict and negotiation consulting for people and businesses who can’t afford a PR department—but can’t afford a public mess.

"I'm the front line for the self‑employed, small to mid‑size businesses, and first‑responder agencies to keep problems from turning into headlines, lawsuits, or viral dogpiles,"
-Casey Roman, President

When things go sideways...

Is this you?

You run a business or agency. You don’t have a large C‑suite, a PR team, or a $600/hr lawyer on speed‑dial for every little blowup—but you do have:
  • A riot in the comment section of your social media that could become a news story.

  • A high-takes negotiation you're getting snowplowed on but can't figure out how to correct course.

  • A reporter calling, asking for an interview about a story they'll run with or without you.

  • A family dispute or separation that can't end in tens of thousands of legal fees.

  • A big conversation or negotiation you know you’re under‑prepared for.

  • A loss for words that can turn the temperature down or, assert a rock solid boundary.

You don’t want to overreact and make it worse.
You also don’t want to sit on your hands and watch it burn.

That’s where I come in.

What I do.

What we do together.

Crisis & Reputation
  • Crisis communication when something ugly is brewing or already public

  • “The news is here” on-camera interview prep and narrative control

  • Fixing runaway social media or community‑rumor problems

Negotiation & Conflict
  • Navigating workplace and partnership blowups

  • Coaching on hard conversations and assertiveness

  • Strategy and language for negotiations that don’t (yet) need a lawyer

Video Production & Messaging
  • Crafting firm, clear written responses

  • Tactically pursue the right kind of good press

  • In-house writing, shooting, and editing internal/external video messages

Everything is built around one goal: protect your reputation and your money without losing your voice.
In-House "Newsroom" Setup
  • Build your own "newsroom" within your business or agency to take control over messaging and brand/reputation management

  • Learn on-camera voice control, inflection and body language

  • Train up your PIO or Comms team with essential video shooting, editing and writing skills

  • Cut the cord and never rely on traditional press releases or mainstream media outlets

The TalkBack

A focused, no‑fluff consult when you’re staring down a crisis, conflict, or high‑stakes negotiation and you’re not sure what the smart next move is.

How it works:

  1. You brief me.
Jump on Zoom or phone. You walk me through what happened, who’s involved, and what you’re afraid is coming next.

  2. I map the board.
I ask the uncomfortable questions and lay out the likely moves from the other side—staff, customers, media, leadership, whoever.

  3. You leave with a plan.
    You get concrete guidance on:

    • What to say and what not to say

    • Who to loop in and in what order

    • How to respond publicly or privately

    • How to keep this from becoming tomorrow’s disaster

If you need written statements or video scripts, I draft those.

If you want to say it on camera, I shoot and edit your messaging so it lands the way it should.

Most TalkBack Sessions fall between $350–$500, depending on complexity. If you’re in an active crisis, tell me in the request and I’ll triage timing and cost before we book.

Why First Response

I’m Casey Roman. I spent years as an Edward R. Murrow award-winning Investigative Reporter in TV news watching people torch their reputations in front of a camera. I then built a second career as a media trainer for law enforcement, video producer and Broker in Charge of a residential and commercial brokerage.

I know how fast a bad moment can become a headline, viral clip, HR nightmare or reason good people walk out the door.

I’m not a PR firm. I’m not your lawyer. I’m the person you call when you want the sugar-free truth, a battle plan, and language that actually sounds like you.

When you want to handle something hard without burning your whole life or business down, First Response should be your first call.
